Clinicopathological analysis of 11 children with primary cardiac tumors

Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the clinicopathological features of primary cardiac tumor in children.

Methods

Eleven children with primary cardiac tumors admitted to Zhengzhou Children's Hospital from November 2010 to April 2018 were selected. All patients underwent surgical treatment. Tumor tissue specimens were taken for observation.

Results

Eleven children with primary cardiac tumors were all benign tumors, including 5 cases of cardiac rhabdomyoma, 5 cases of cardiac fibroma and 1 case of cardiac myxoma.

Conclusion

The incidence of primary cardiac tumors in children is low and mostly benign. Cardiac fibroma and cardiac rhabdomyoma are relatively common. Different types of primary cardiac tumors have typical pathological characteristics. Immunohistochemical examination can accurately diagnose diseases.
