Abstract:

Objective

To investigate the value of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in predicting the risk of major cardiovascular events(MACE) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Methods

This study was a retrospective study. By including patients diagnosed with ACS without interventional treatment in Traditional Chinese Hospital of Luan Affiliated to Anhui University of Chinese Medicine and Luan Sixth People's Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021, and were divided into MACE group and no MACE group according to whether MACE occurred. TyG index, LDL-C, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) of the patients were collected to analyze its correlation with postoperative cardiovascular events. Linear regression equation and Logistic regression model were constructed, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was made to evaluate its predictive value and ability.

Results

A total of 1 088 patients were included, (64.13±12.41) years old, male 840 cases. Compared with patients of no MACE group, there were statistical differences in LDL-C [ (2.21±0.99) mmol/L vs. (3.15±1.39) mmol/L, P=0.001], TyG index [(6.34±1.93) vs. (7.50±1.54), P=0.023) and hs-CRP [3.13 (0.45,3.32) mmol/L vs. 3.36 (0.82,4.29) mmol/L, P=0.049] in patients of MACE group. Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that LDL-C and TyG index were independent correlation factors. LDL-C (AUC=0.691, OR 2.254, 95%CI 1.313-3.869, P=0.003), TyG index (AUC=0.664, OR=1.428, 95%CI 1.035-1.970, P=0.030). The association coefficient of TyG index and LDL-C was an independent correlation factor for MACE occurrence (AUC=0.781, 95%CI 0.685-0.887, P<0.001).

Conclusion

LDL-C and TyG index have certain predictive value for the risk of major cardiovascular events in ACS patients, but the combined coefficient of LDL-C and TyG index has higher predictive value.

Key words: Acute coronary syndrome, Low density lipoprotein cholesterol, Triglyceride-glucose index, Major advent cardiovascular event
