Abstract:

Objective

To explore the correlation of plasma levels of NT-proBNP and GHbA1c with severity of coronary artery disease in patients with coronary heart disease.

Methods

A total of 130 patients with coronary heart disease examined by coronary arteriongraphy were divided into single vessel group(n=50), double vessel group (n=35) and multi-vessel group(n=45) according to severity of coronary artery disease, while 30 cases of healthy individuals were chosen as matched group. The plasma levels of NT-proBNP and GHbA1c in all these patients were measured. And the correlation of plasma levels of NT-proBNP and GHbA1c with severity of coronary artery disease were analyzed.

Results

(1)The levels of plasma NT-proBNP in single vessel group, double vessel group and multi-vessel group were all higher than that of matched group[(531.87±272.06) ng/L, (922.15±288.93) ng/L, (2 486.73±1 794.52) ng/L vs (47.18±26.19) ng/L](P<0.05), and the levels of plasma NT-proBNP were increased with the increase of the number of diseased vessel.(2)The levels of plasma GHbA1c in single vessel group, double vessel group and multi-vessel group were all higher than that of matched group[(6.87±0.47)%, (7.53±0.42)%, (9.65±0.51)% vs (5.49±0.32%](P<0.05), and the levels of plasma GHbA1c were increased with the increase of the number of diseased vessel.(3)By correlation analysis, the plasma levels of NT-proBNP and GHbA1c were all positively related with the number of diseased vessel(r=0.241, 0.363, P<0.05).

Conclusion

The plasma levels of NT-proBNP and GHbA1c were positively related with severity of coronary artery disease and they could be used as important indicators to assess the prognosis of patients with coronary artery disease.
